There were a few significant differences between the previous national census in 1900 and the 1910 census:

  • A complete date of birth should be stated for every individual, not only for 1-2 year old children as in 1900.
  • For turned home Norwegian-Americans information should be stated about their year of emigration, their year of coming back, their  residence in Norway before emigration, and their latest residence and occupation in America.
  • It should be stated if a person was unemployed.
  • The crew should be listed only for ships in Norwegian harbours and waters, not for Norwegian ships in foreign harbours and waters as in 1900.
