Receipt and Testing

The National Archives of Norway receives and tests electronic extracts from the archive creators. Once an archive extract is approved, it is registered as complete and stored long term.

Testing Tools

The National Archives of Norway uses various tools to test extracts from archives. These are dedicated tools for various types of extracts.

Long-Term Storage

Electronic archival material that has been tested and approved by the National Archives of Norway is stored long term in the National Archives of Norway's special repository for electronic archives. At present, archival material is stored on CDs. A transition to digital safe storage is now underway.

The National Archives of Norway uses the international standards ISAD(G) and OAIS along with our own ADDML standard as the bases for our work with electronic archives.
